About the project

phphtmledit.com is a single-purpose tool: turn formatted text into clean HTML, and clean HTML back into a document you can hand to someone else.

Why it exists

Most content does not start life as HTML. It arrives as a Word file, a Google Doc, or a block of text copied out of an old page — and pasting it straight into a CMS drags along inline styles, empty tags and editor-specific classes that break the layout. The usual fix is a round trip through several converters. This editor collapses that into one screen: a visual pane, a source pane, and a cleanup pass between them.

How it works

The editor is a client-side application. When the page loads, the code runs in your browser and stays there: parsing a .docx, rewriting markup, formatting the output and building an export file all happen locally. Your document is never sent to a server, which is also why the editor keeps working if your connection drops mid-session.

What it is not

It is not a site builder, a hosting service or a CMS. There is no page templating, no publishing and no storage of your documents on our side. If you need a place to keep drafts, keep them in the system you already use and bring them here when the markup needs work.

Roadmap and feedback

The feature list grows from what people actually run into: a tag that survives cleanup when it should not, a Word construct that imports badly, a shortcut that is missing. If you hit one of those, write to us — a short description and the fragment of markup is usually enough to reproduce it.

Looking for the editor? It is on the home page — open it and start typing, no setup required.
